How zakat is calculated
Zakat is due on wealth that has been in your possession for a full lunar (Hijri) year and exceeds the nisab — a minimum threshold traditionally set by the value of a fixed weight of gold or silver. Once your net zakatable wealth (assets minus debts) is at or above the nisab, zakat is payable at 2.5% of that net amount.
The nisab used by this calculator is a placeholder figure and should be updated to reflect the current gold or silver price for an accurate result. This tool is provided for general guidance only and isn't a substitute for advice from a qualified scholar.
